Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church not ready to change to gregorian calendar

   The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church will not change to the Gregorian calendar in the near future because there is no background or reason for this, Patriarch Sviatoslav Shevchuk said during a web conference at RISU. Patriarch Sviatoslav said that part of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in some countries changed to the new calendar, but it led to the division of parishes.

Poll finds church marriages twice as strong as official ones

   According to a poll conducted by the company GfK Ukraine, the rate of separation for Ukrainians in civil marriages is18%, for church marriages 6%, ZN.UA reports. Civil marriage is most popular in Kyiv, as well as in the southern and eastern regions, while religious marriage is most popular in the western region.

   The first direct broadcast was on August 9th. Creators of LIVE TV expect an audience of internet-users, primarily youth. The channel may perhaps even carry advertisements, excluding those of beer or wine. The channel will be directed by UGCC Department of Information head, rev. Ihor Yatsiv.

On the road of the believing person, in other words, the person who seeks a fullness of understanding, knowing and experiencing God, there will always be crisis. Therefore, one who has never experienced a crisis of faith, is not truly a deeply-believing person, is not searching for a full knowledge of God,” said His Beatitude Sviatoslav (Shevchuk), UGCC Head, in an interview for the newspaper Slovo.
